This award honors a pharmacist who has compiled an outstanding record of community service, which apart from his/her specific identification as a pharmacist, reflects well on the profession.  

Recipient must also:

*Be licensed in Illinois
*Be a current IPhA member

*Must not be currently serving (or have served within the past two years) as an officer of IPhA, other than an
  ex-officio capacity
*May not be a member of its awards committee.

Originally sponsored by IPhA to honor the memory of IPhA President Edmond P. Barcus, who died in office, this award honors an up-and-comer pharmacist.  The recipient is an individual who shows tremendous commitment to the profession and his/her community, leadership potential, professional aspirations, and involvement in community service. Also: Member of IPhA in the year selected; entry degree in pharmacy received less than ten years ago; licensed to practice pharmacy in Illinois and must have practiced in community, institutional, managed care, or consulting pharmacy in the year selected; participated in national pharmacy associations, professional programs, and/or community service. Association Awards

This is IPhA's oldest continuing honor, having had its initial presentation in 1950. It recognizes an Illinois pharmacist who has made outstanding contributions to pharmacy practice, the profession, and the Illinois Pharmacists Association. Sponsored by the Illinois Pharmacists Association.

Presented to recognize the contributions that pharmacy technicians make in the daily activity of the pharmacy.

Award Criteria:

* The recipient must be a member of Illinois Pharmacists Association.
* The recipient must be a pharmacy technician currently working in an Illinois pharmacy.
* The recipient must demonstrate outstanding skills as a technician that helps the pharmacist and pharmacy    
   provide better pharmacy care and more efficient service to the patient/customer.
* The recipient must show an interest and concern for the community by participating in some activities outside
   of work.

Students enrolled in a college or school of pharmacy are not eligible for this award.

*Be an IPhA member for at least 3 years prior to receiving the award
*Be full time faculty member at one of the following schools: CSU, Midwestern, Roosevelt, Rosalind

*Have been shown to be an exceptional educator and mentor in their college, state and nationally.
*The candidate should have made substantial contribution to the education of pharmacists through the
  Illinois Pharmacist Association.

IPhA Foundation Awards

This award has been established to honor pharmacists in all practice settings who have, through example, integrity and longevity, served as role models for those in the profession of pharmacy.  To be eligible for consideration, nominees must have: 

*30 or more years of practice in the profession of pharmacy
*been a member of IPhA for more than 10 years
*must have displayed their commitment to the profession of pharmacy, which may include through
  outstanding service to their community, volunteer organizations and/or IPhA.

All nominations must be received via the IPhA website.  Those who wish to nominate an individual for this award do not need to be a member of IPhA.

The award is sponsored by the IPhA Foundation.

The Sister Margaret Wright Pharmacy Leadership Award honors Sister Margaret and her unwavering support and advancement of the practice of pharmacy on local, state and national levels for all.  Sister Margaret was a dominant female force at a time when the profession was led primarily by males.  All nominees are welcome but female applicants will be given additional consideration.  Email of the nominee is required upon nomination.

Pharmacists will be considered based on the following criteria based on both professional experience and student involvement:

National Involvement such as: committee/task force, leadership roles on boards or committee/task force, House of Delegates, speaker/presenter, and poster presenter at a national meeting.

IPhA Involvement such as:  committee/task force, leadership role on a committee/task force (i.e. chair, vice chair), House of Delegates, IPhA - Board Member/Officer, and speaker and poster presenter at IPhA meeting/event.

Contribution to the profession-Leadership role in employer organization, contributed to healthcare literature/research and leadership in Interprofessional Organizations.

Other recognition and awards including Pharmacy School Awards/Alumni Awards, IPhA Awards, National Pharmacy Association Award/Fellow, and Community Awards for Service.

This award was established as a memorial tribute to Alan Granat, who served as Executive Director of IPhA from 1979 until his death in 1989. The award will be presented annually by the IPhA Foundation to a pharmacist and/or pharmacy student who has exhibited a commitment to pharmacy and community, as evidenced by membership and participation in pharmacy organizations and community involvement.

To be eligible, pharmacists must be members of IPhA, Illinois residents, and licensed to practice in Illinois.

Eligible students must be entering their third year of a Pharm.D. program, be student members of IPhA, and have their permanent residence in Illinois. The recipient(s) of this award will be required to contribute an article to Illinois Pharmacist, IPhA’s journal.
